redpengrade is designed to collect as little as possible. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms and no newsletter.
Your entries stay on your device
Every calculation runs in your browser. The numbers you type are saved in your browser's local storage so they're still there next time you visit. They're never sent to redpengrade or anyone else. Clear them with each calculator's reset button or by clearing site data in your browser.
Hosting and analytics
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and calculators are used, how people find the site, and roughly where visitors are from. Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you visit, your device and browser type, your approximate location (derived from your IP address) and how you arrived. It doesn't receive the grades or numbers you type into the calculators. We use this only in aggregate to improve the site, we don't use it to identify anyone, and advertising features are turned off. Google processes this data under the Google Privacy Policy. You can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Cookies and your choices
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) that let it tell visits apart. They last up to about two years.
- In the UK, the EU, the EEA and Switzerland, analytics cookies are off until you choose "Accept analytics" in the banner. Until then, Google receives only cookieless signals without identifiers, as provided by Google Consent Mode.
- Everywhere else, including the United States, analytics cookies are on by default.
- Anyone can change their choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
We remember your choice in your browser's local storage. redpengrade sets no advertising cookies.
Children
The site is meant for high school and college students, parents and teachers. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Analytics data is aggregated and isn't used to identify anyone.
Advertising
The site doesn't currently show advertising. If that changes, this policy will be updated before ads appear, and where the law requires it you'll be asked for consent first.
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply.
Your choices and rights
You can turn analytics off at any time with "Cookie settings", block cookies in your browser, or use the Google opt-out add-on above. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you and to have it deleted. Email us at hello@redpengrade.com.
Changes
Any change to this policy will be posted on this page with a new date.
